as doug fant wrote recently

someone posted this article/book review somewhere on si today, and apologize that i can't recall the poster. it is a book review of Why I Am Not a Muslim," by Ibn Warraq. i remember doug fant posting about the fascism of the radical islamic fundamentalists. this book puts a spin on it that says that "Islam is religious fascism, and it is only a feeble-minded political correctness that prevents it from being recognised as such." i don't have an axe to grind, but this review is pretty interesting and is written by someone who has been there and done that and wanted to write about it.

Does anyone here seriously expect us to believe that 2% of the population of Libya is enough to keep Ghadaffi in power? Or only 2% of the Iranian population supports their Anti-American regime?

Of course! To understand how that can happen, you have to understand that Ghaddaffi, bin Laden, and the Taliban (not to mention Manuel Noriega and Saddam Hussein) were all armed, trained, and helped to power by our own CIA. That's a powerful and ruthless ally. Now the CIA is in cahoots with the Northern Alliance. Does ANYBODY know what the Northern Alliance stands for? Of course not. We only know what they stand against. We backed bin Laden and the Taliban not because of what they stood for, but because they stood against Russia in the cold war.

Even if we wipe out Hussein, the Taliban, and bin Laden, we will not have solved the problem. America needs to stop arming, funding, and training terrorists NOW!

<<This war will most likely be episodic and could last many years, becoming a lot bloodier on both sides before half of our people even have a clue as to what we're up against. >>

thanks of letting us know right now ...

isopatch, America has a whole lot o' friends in the Islamic world too- such as Turkey one of our closest friends. Don't underestimate that...And to our enemies such as Iraq warnings have already been sent such as "Don't even think of harming the Kurds im northern Iraq right now", as an example....
