Meditate yes, but prayers as the religious conceive them? What would be the point?

I doubt it.

I'm a Christian and, other than the Lord's Prayer, I don't pray. I think intercessionary prayer is essentially selfish.

This atheist has been asked similar things.
Having a good chapel upbringing, I know enough to bend my head, clasp my hands and whisper/think sincere and heartfelt thoughts. If it's a voiced piece and I know the words (and don't find them actively offensive) I'll even follow along.
Do you call that prayer?

I do it not expecting or believing (hoping?? maybe) that some greater being will hear or listen to me - still less put my wishes above the doubtless equally heartfelt, maybe more needed or valid, wishes of any others.
Do you still call that prayer?

I don't address the 'prayer' to any god. If I am required to use religious words, IMO they're pretty meaningless from me.
But I won't deliberately avoid them. Especially if the recipient was/is religious, or would welcome them, or if it would actively offend those around me to do so - and I have no desire to.
Now, is it prayer?

Or does it only count if you're religious? (And if so, does it matter who, what or how you worship, or how you live outside prayer?).

Meanwhile, what is your answer to this piece on prayer?
