The conservative wing of the Republican Party is a coalition, made up of fiscal conservatives, social conservatives, religious conservatives (not exactly the same), libertarians, neoconservatives, residual Buchananites, and several other smaller factions. The Republican Party is an even larger coalition made up of conservatives (those in the first coalition), moderates of varying degrees, and even a few slightly liberal members from the Northeast. Thus, it is not unusual to have a considerable degree of debate and disagreement among Republicans and even conservatives.
