Yes, well we have to keep trying. It is not just that it is a nice thing to do, it critical to our success. If we do not win the hearts of the people, we do not win anything. If we defeat the Taliban but turn them into heros we create millions more. They know that and would welcome it as a postumous victory. They must be seen for their injustice and we must be seen as just in our battles and ultimate victory over them. I think the Bush Administration sees this. I hope average Americans do too. Its hard to understand if you haven't lived in other cultures. Clearly the Nation State of America is us, as we are it. As long as we remain a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. The circumstances for the tribal refugies in Afghanistan is very different. They barely qualify as residents and are certainly not part of the Taliban Government/state. The Taliban Government is not a Nation State identifiable by geographical boundaries or even ethnicity. The Taliban is Harboring Osama Bin Ladin and others. This is a very identifiable organization. Anyone who identifies with it qualifies.
