William J. Wik, 44, Assistant Director, Aon Corp.

New York, Oct. 9 (Bloomberg) -- William J. Wik, 44, assistant
director of risk management services, Aon Corp.

In a phone call during the attacks on the World Trade Center,
Wik's wife, Kathleen, told him to escape from his office on the
92nd floor of Tower 2.

He refused. ``There are still people here,'' he told her.

Wik's body was recovered from the rubble of Tower 2, wearing
a dust mask, and his hands covered by the gloves of the rescue
crews, clutching an emergency services flashlight. He was found
near the remains of five New York City firefighters.

He was buried on Sept. 18.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his three children; his mother;
two brothers; and sister.
