Vincent and Andrew were brothers who were almost inseparable. They played sports together, spent weekends at the beach together, and they worked together on the 105th floor of the World Trade Center's North Tower. ``They were together as much as they could be,'' their mother, Elaine Abate, told Newsday. ``Even when they were kids, they did everything together.'' The brothers were born in Brooklyn, where they both attended St. Francis Cabrini Grammar School and Poly Prep Country Day School, Newsday said. They both played on Poly Prep's football and baseball teams. College separated the two, with Andrew graduating from the C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University in 1987 after his brother had graduated from Ithaca College three years earlier, Newsday said. Three years ago, Vincent, a longtime Cantor Fitzgerald employee, brought Andrew to the firm. Vincent lived alone in a brownstone in Brooklyn, New York, the New York Times reported. Andrew and his wife, Carolyn, had a house in Melville on Long Island. After work, the brothers enjoyed playing basketball and handball together, and during the summer, Andrew and Carolyn would often join Vincent at a house on the New Jersey shore for weekends of sunning and barbecuing. ``They both loved the time they spent at that house,'' Elaine Abate told Newsday. She added that she last heard from her sons the weekend before Sept. 11 when they telephoned her to say, "hi," and find out how things were. The brothers are also survived by their father. A memorial service for the brothers was held Sept. 29 in New York.
