I agree with your "... hathaway's comment about being caught off guard as simply unbeliveable and disingenuous." Which does not nullify or void Gata Bill's remarks that he was pleased with the feedback, as one should always give enough wiggle room etc to friends during a (gold) war. To put it in better relativity or insight or whatever word is needed to say that i perfer to twist and turn and spin this the best way possible to help Gata and Bill, i will simply say that this man Hathaway has to first protect "home" before relatives and those in the neighboorhood etc. What i'm trying to say is that if he did say what he reported later should have been said, then his "home" that gold fund or whatever it is would have received not nice stuff. So did he lie, is a yes. But it was that or speak the truTh in a war that truTh is understood to be a weakness if you supply it to the enemy for them to use against you. He had to keep the Gata "thing" at arms length to his fund. etc etc etc and to me it could have been handled better, but better here would just be a variation of non-truTh. Sorry i'm babbling here but i gotta pee and need to type quick which means think quick and thinking quick for me hurts my brain cells as they are not "build" for speed :o) doug
