I think George used the words to the effect "ISI provided intelligence". Too afraid to go back and check his post !!!<grin>

They couldn't have masterminded it, but if asked to join a 'coalition of sorts', they would go along. And of course everyone thought they'd get away with it. And except for OBL's name being thrown around, the majority have got away with it.

The public still doesn't know who was behind this. Can it be the public is intentionally being kept in the dark...?

There must be multiple govts involved. ISI's participation cannot be ruled out totally....a lot of Pakistan's military brass are religious zealots. Wasn't it an army general who established the Sharia there ?

>You must be smoking some grade A afghan hash...to come up with that conspiracy theory.

Well, I did inhale back in my college days...and I quit smoking yeears ago<g>

>Anyone who did the WTC was driven by pure hatred and had absolutely nothing to loose.

I agree.

>Much as I hate the ISI, Pakistan still thinks it is a country that can make it.

I don't think many countries can make it if 90% plus of their budget go to meet the interest on foreign debt and defense...

>something like complicity in the WTC would bring on the wrath of its major benefactor and the most powerful country on earth,

I did not say ISI directly helped in the WTC bombing. I just said that, without their help of logistics, financing, communication, intelligence, the ones behind this plot had no chance of making it!

>drive India and USA to each other etc. so waay offbase.

well, look at the developments, Pakistand and USA are closer than EVER! Risky, sure. You know, risk vs. reward<g>

>Meanwhile the ISI had its own little colony in Afghanistan, upto 2 Billion in drug money, the ISI boys had a fiefdom with possibly more power than any fortune 500 CEO, heady masters of the universe stuff, why would they jeopardize this?

To save their Nation!

>And much as everyone might hate the crowds in Peshawar chanting anti US slogans, I think most of it is abstract, they just need an enemy and 99% of them wouldn't stoop to such devilishness. I can see them crossing the border into India and bombing bridges and such, but the US is soo remote. To really hate you need familiarity, I would think.

And who says that these crowds are not Musharraf's stoodges doing their part to help Musharraf collect more prizes;)<g>

>The ISI helping to shelter OBL is one thing, to be the mastermind of this is quite another.

Not the mastermind but crucial xxxxxs (the word escapes me now)

>BTW - even the US has no leverage on the Kasmir issue as far as India is concerned - totally non negotiable.

EVERYTHING is negotiable, especially when it's for interests of US!

I did not mean Kashmir totally goes to Pakistan, no way! But I think both Musharraf and the Indians would love to settle this issue once and for all and I think they are closer than ever to finding a solution (which will slightly favor Pakistan but will be packaged as "fair").

> If India is good enough for 120 million muslims, (richest indian is a muslim, nuclear guru is moslem etc.. movie stars are all khans ...what is is with 10 million or less.

Did I tell you I love Indian food?<g>

I have always said, everything is IMHO.

I am no longer following this thread but I do check out my inbox and once in a while I will scan headers...

something like complicity in the WTC would bring on the wrath of its major benefactor and the most powerful country on earth, drive India and USA to each other etc.

Not necessarily.... I think the world, and the American people are smart enough to realize that certain powerful people in government can hijack the system for their own evil purposes. (Nixon, Clinton??)

If anything, unveiling this scheme could cause the Pakistanis to self-purge the corruption from their government and make leaders more accountable to the people (hopefully the moderates, of course)..

I believe the former ISI head is a "dead man walking" and the ISI is about to undergo the equivalent of a "Church commission"..
