I use Fidelity and they have a feature where you can download your trades directly into turbo tax.

yes Merrill Lynch does, they charge you 1% of your portfilio with unlimited trades so it ends up being very cheap when trading. If you have a 30.00 profit you can go ahead a take it because you get the profit. Its called ML direct, and at the end of the year you get a nice statement that does all the work for you

Dennis-- I use Paine Webbrer. Rarely trade online with them-- 1 annual fee pd qtrly that comes out less than Brown charges you if you trade heavy.. My CPA is happy with what they supply, and questions -- he calls the broker direct..

<...match transactions for you and send a conformed statement at year's end?>

For a software service solution, look at gainskeeper.com . They keep track of wash sales, splits and spin-offs, and adjust your share counts and basis automatically. Some brokers are set up to download to them directly, others you have to download to Excel and massage the data a bit.
They have a nice Schedule D report and good YTD reports.

regards,
John (no affiliation to Gainskeeper)

dennis, you were mentioning ibonds. i did a spreadsheet using the current rate (5.92%)(which will fall after oct 31, 2001)

assuming you put 30k each year for 30 years..

i have done it for my family (4x$30), for this year.
Ive laid out a plan where a portion of my/our stock profits will go into ibonds.

geocities.com
(ibond example)

$2.5 mill
(defintely not going to beat a trading portfolio, but something stable and safe)

not a rec to buy or sell.
pertains to family acct.
