JT> No News is... NO NEWS ! Our news stopped the day before yesterday, Jurgen. Looks weird because all the "news" is just 1~2 day old repeats of the same stuff we saw yesterday and, the day before {grin} Dubya learned a hard lesson: having shut down the American press on the day he started bombing Pakistan, the only news (and what everyone was watching) was the foreign press in general, and Bin Laden's press release in particular :-/ That made Dubya very angry, so he first said something like, "we should shut down all the foreign news media, too", which didn't go down well ~ then he came up with, "they (the enemy ~ the Muslim world's 24/7 CNN al-Jazeera empTeeVee station) they are sending coded messages in their broadcasts, so shut down the foreign press" (!) unbelievable but, people actually bought that. Dubya threw an embarrassing temper tantrum, (and in front of Schroeder, too) as several Congressmen repeated the same thing Ashcroft has been saying for the last 2 weeks, in his attempt to terrorize / extort us in to giving up our Bill of Rights, get his "anti-terrorism" Bill passed: (1) THEY ARE STILL AMONG US!!! and (2) THEY ARE GOING TO ATTACK US AGAIN!!! well... DUH!!! Dubya went nuts, tried to dissolve the Reichstag and form a Politburo or, "executive committee" but, Congress would have nothing of it, told him to get ahold of himself; Congressional leaders then told us that "this incident is over, let's move on". Red faces all around. our Vice-President remains in a bunker, for some reason only Carl Rove and Karen Hughes know: Dubya still looks puny even without Cheney's presence; having our leader in a bunker and our government operating in secret does not inspire confidence, to say the least; in general, I find Dubya to be just as incompetent at running the New War as he was at running everything that came before it (^_^) meanwhile, we got ANTHRAX attack (the press has toned it down to the title "Anthrax Scare" ~ as if 3+ victims is nothing 'real', just a 'scare') in Florida. People were becoming too hysterical, so ~ the goverment is toning it down. Dubya hasn't said anything about it; amazing, neither has Dubya's brother, "Jeb" ~ the Governor of Florida. No, we don't know who did it, some psychotic who wasn't taking his anti-psychotic drugs? Or, a connection to more organized terrorists? we don't know but then, we don't know who bombed the World Trade Center, either: sure feels good to drop 5,000 pound "bunker busters" on targets in Afghansitan, though! Wanted: Dead or Alive or, Blown to Smithereens (^_^) But, in a reversal from last week, Ashcroft looks positively ashen ~ just as dumbstruck as when Rumsfeld realized that a Maginot Line in Space would not have done squat to prevent attack on his office at the Pentagon; Ashcroft apparently realized that, even had he been given the power to search, seize, and eavesdrop at will on U.S. citizens, it would not have done squat to prevent ANTHRAX spores from simply being mailed USPS: I shudder to think of what 1 handful of HOOF & MOUTH contaminated soil being blown to the wind in the great central stockyard in Chicago would do. With the PRESS stopped here, we are in the realm of the inane ~ but then again, in the void there is no bad news ~ perhaps the rush to dose ourselves with anti "Generalized Anxiety Disorder" (that's what they advertise anti-psychotic drugs as on the evening news over here) powerful anti-psychotics and, the rush to stockpile Bayer's CIPRO anti-biotics will diminish -? As in George's Lucas' magnificent UCLA Film School thesis, "THX-1138", it won't be long before interval or, "not taking drugs" will be a crime over here. WHAT'S NEW ??? -Steve
