That was Soviet Union....in addition to the collapse of Soviet Empire , GDR (German Democratic Republic) "merged" with FRG (Federal Republic of Germany)...You are not stipulating that Syria, Jordan, Egypt are merging again?

Any economy that takes in $6+ billion in annual foreign aid (5% of GDP!!!) must be doing something wrong. Or should I say doing something right? -g-
