Arafat's fatal error in this era is that he didnt go with Ehud Barak, and he allowed Ariel Sharon to rise to power. it will now take two decades (an entire generation) for the Palestinians to achieve what they had been offered just last year. No wonder the Palestinian public is outraged; they have been raised to believe they should hate America and to kill all Jews wherever they can find them; now, from their University seats, they stare confused and defiant at PA police who are now preventing them from chearing and celebrating what they see as a major arab victory over the great Satan; and they are now being prevented from their inalienable rights to free speech and to demonstrate; to show solidarity with Bin Laden and his cause; after all didnt he just say that he is fighting for the Judenrein in Palestine? Where is the condemnation from Europe as Gaza is closed an no reporters are allowed in?
