I don't know J, I think disciplined is a better word. I pulled out in Februrary due to technical signals I set up myself (and stuck to) then the bear rally sucked me back in at the end of April. My exit in August was determined by the fact that the market was beginning to threaten the uptrend...so as hard as it was, I got out again. I've saved a lot of money by pulling out both times, but its always the re-entry point that is the tough one. "Smart" would have been to have pulled out at the end of '99...well, maybe "lucky" would be best.

Bollinger makes some excellent points, especially about why he thinks it will take a very long time to unwind this thing.

People are still thinking we'll pull a 1990's style rebound and off to the races we go again. The odds are against that, yet we've all been brainwashed for so long. There was a HUGE demand for technology the past 10 years. That has been extinguished. Yes, I know tech will continue to grow, but all those companies pushing up demand for all those tech products either no longer exist or are in deep cut back mode.

The inventory glut is the result of a huge drop in demand...a demand that was created out of market madness. We've never see that kind of thing for a very long time if ever again (in our life times). Once investors figure that out and stop reading the financial section as Bollinger suggests, we'll flat line for long enough to get everyone bored.
