Aw, now that is really nice. Thank you, sincerely.

And I feel rather guilty... I was actually being rather sly in my post. The IRA used to raise a lot of money via Noraid and similar bodies, bought firearms in the US (Florida, most recently - they got caught) and US senators have in the past blocked the extradition of wanted/convicted IRA murderers...

but luckily - and with no little assistance from the US over the last few years, notably Clinton and Mitchell - things are getting slowly better. They're not normal, by a long way, but more peaceful; the extremists are being properly marginalised rather than representing any more popular feeling. And terrorist actions are both less frequent and less acceptable to both sides.
Some regular IRA members were recently arrested in Colombia, where they were apparently/allegedly cross-training with FARC (drug-running terrorists... lovely). That didn't exactly impress the US, we gather. And an 'unofficial' website supporting/funding the IRA, hosted in the US, was recently required to shut down... no loss there... I think the 'Real IRA' (the latest incarnation of active bombers and murderers) were actually on the FBI's list, too.

Your stance is welcome, very welcome.

Boy you are a suck today! The Americans have been aware for a long time that supporters in the States have provided money for the IRA - from Canada too. Yes the British suffered through the blitz and for a long time from the IRA. This has nothing to do with Tony Blair's inflamed rhetoric, which is exposing the British public to large scale danger, and is making people really edgy. The IRA have been more interested in bombing on a smaller scale, and usually give a warning first, which is not to say that they are not completely despicable - which they are. The renegade group 'The Real IRA' seem to be filled with mad dogs however and the recent attack in Ealing luckily didn't kill anyone, but it was designed to kill a lot of people just as they were coming out of the pubs.

So little cub - go on talking about the Queen and all of that stuff - but I guess you don't have any family over there?

None of this is to excuse the IRA or terrorists of any kind.
