Why is it that you think that these people (who are now dead and only have descendants) have a right to promulgate their philosophies on the living in a ratio that is disproportionate to their population?

It's another European value from the 18th/19th century... which we've also largely lost... respect for royalty <vbg>

COSMICFORCE - You made a rather strong statement and I asked you for a clarification. Seemed reasonable to me.

If you don't know what I believe in, why do you attack me for my beliefs?

In writing, "What I don't like about America's European chauvinism?," you jump start the discussion by assuming it has been proved that American European heritage is chauvinistic. You MAY have a good argument but save the spin.

Surely you have more important issues in your life than "American values" of the 18th and 19th century. I thought you were Future Man.

Provincial European thinking? Not big picture people?
Without them, it's very possible we'd still be stuck in the middle ages. I'll take the middle class, thank you.

Re your question - Dead people don't have rights and are incapable of promulgating anything.

Their descendants have influence greater than their numbers because so many want what they have. What's not to like about the rule of law, personal freedom, democracy and the high speed dental drill?

I don't see too many of our oppressed trying to escape the bad ol' USA.
