I agree. Until now, the CW was that a company that pays dividends is "dumb" -- it doesn't know what to do with its earnings. Whereas the companies that supposedly reinvest their earnings for more growth were considered "smart".

However, with the recent revelations that, very often, the "earnings" in the case of the latter were more smoke and mirrors than real earnings, the tide has begun to shift. Slowly but surely, dividend-paying companies will get the respect that they deserve.
