I wonder whether this story will prominently make tomorrow's Washington Post and New York Times front page.

The Chairman of the JCS stated at yesterday's pentagon briefing that he hoped to have more info to share today (haven't caught the briefing if it has occurred today)..

But from reports I've read, the 4 deminers who were killed were bedding down in a radio station (obvious military target), and should have cleared out of town days ago, or at least found less dangerous surroundings..

It's a tragedy, and certainly indicative of their devotion to their work (which we'll have to ramp up after the Taleban are gone), but certainly not a deliberate attack.

But I had heard the CNN report about the Taleban deliberately targeting the UN deminers.. That hardly makes sense either, unless they consider them to be spies. After all, these guys are predominantly Afghans who are working for the UN.
