Suits against Internet analyst dismissed Investors blamed Mary Meeker for losses on tech stocks
Oct. 10, 2001
Reuters

NEW YORK - A federal judge yesterday dismissed eight class-action
lawsuits against Mary Meeker, Morgan Stanley's high-profile
Internet analyst, who rose to stardom during the heady days of
the 1990s bull market.

The claims, which were dismissed with prejudice, cannot be refiled.

U.S. District Judge Milton Pollack had some cases thrown out in
August, but gave the plaintiffs 30 days to file amended pleadings.
In the eight cases dismissed yesterday, the plaintiffs decided not
to refile their claims.

"We are gratified, but not surprised, by this decision," Mayree
Clark, Morgan Stanley's head of global research, said in a
statement. "Our research is thorough and objective, and Mary
Meeker's integrity is beyond reproach."
............................. LMAO!!!!!!!!

Ms. Meeker became known as Queen of the Internet for her bullish
views on the sector. But as Internet stocks took a dive, she and
rival analyst Henry Blodget of Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. became
targets for disgruntled investors.

The plaintiffs in the cases "don't owe [Ms. Meeker] any of their profits, [yet] now they want her
to take their losses," Judge Pollack said when he dismissed the suits in August, calling them
"gross and unrestrained."

it's not MY panic cycle but PEI's. per experience, when their cycle resolves in a buying panic, it is usually just as short lived as a selling panic. see March of 2000.
