"War hysteria"? Have you been watching TV recently? Do the words "Twin Towers" ring a bell? How about the word "Jihad"? If you think either side didn't and won't in the future use every legal maneuver it could and can to grab the presidency, you are naive. One side had some luck, some friends with power, and the Supreme Court on its side. It won. Calm down about "treason." The PC mind-control mentality doesn't only exist on the left, and that "treason" bs is typical right wing political correctness mind-control language. Actually, both sides use it, it's so decorative, but it's very popular on the right. Have you read the Hitchens's pieces on September 11 from the Nation? If not, I'll post some sane links to you. And if you think our civil liberties aren't going to be affected of necessity by the fact that thousands of madmen want to kill us all, and have been able to come and go as they please in our beautiful open society, you're wrong. It's a tragedy. I agree with you on that. But the greatest threat to this nation right now is the Islamic extremist Jihad, dude. They may have changed us, and not for the better, forever. We may have been a beautiful, transient dream in the brilliant if imperfect brains of our forefathers, who didn't know about suicide bombers and death-loving, freedom-hating religious zealots. Now we may have to be a less beautiful dream than we have wanted to be (some of us) simply in order not to be the Taliban one.
