We are always doing that, which why America is not just Britain Lite, but includes elements from Africa and Italy and China and Eastern European Jewry, among others. But there is a matrix which allowed all of these diverse influences to come together, and that is Western Civilization, which got the beginnings of philosophy, democracy, and science from Athens; the notion of one humanity under a single Father- God, to one day aspire to become one people in brotherhood, from Jerusalem; and the sense of the importance of law and institutions, of the grandeur of civitas, from Rome.........
