The "right to bear arms" is time-sensitive. Made sense in 1776. Makes less sense today, in view of Littleton, etc. But all this may be moot in view of the fact that the weapon of choice on Sept. 11 was a 99-cent box-cutter.

Another arena where Americans need to sacrifice is in selection of vehicles. Too many people driving SUVs that get 18 mpg, thus increasing our dependency on Middle Eastern oil nations.
