I can't get that sight because I'm not signed up, however do you mean by "negative indicator" that it is a reverse indicator. Short interest has long been a reverse indicator, but I think that the last decade or so that it cannot be nearly as reliable as it was many years ago. There are now so many ways of offsetting short positions that I cannot see how it can be reliable. Also during the last year's selloff the commercials were net short record amounts and by the looks of it did quite handsomely on their bets. Also, there is another long for every short. eg, There is theoretically 5.98 billion more shares out there for sale at some price.
