A while back (quite a while, it was while I was living in NYC and that was decades ago) New York magazine held a contest to find the worst job in New York. There were lots of lousy ones -- sewer cleaning came in up there, as I recall, also bridge painting, sweat shop worker, things you would expect -- but the champeen worst job in NYC was the person who opens the bags of dirty diapers for the diaper service and had to rinse off the up-to-a-week-sitting-in-the-bag diapers to get rid of the solids before they could be put into the washing machines.

Not a job that a machine could do, unfortunately.

The world stops when no one is willing to get their hands dirty. I took care of my dad in his final months. I suppose I could have dragged him outside and turned the hose on him..... NOT.

I think we ought to have compulsory service of a year or two for all 18 year olds and make 'em do the crap jobs.
