That's okay. There is so much happening, and so much "jump the gun" reporting, that it is nearly impossible to know what is real or not.

On another front:

I certainly don't want to jump in that conspiratorial, holier than thou, God of judgement, evil America, "Zionist" barrel, but if we think there is NOTHING to the suggestion that the Sept. 11 attacks may have had a little spiritual meaning, ponder this:

It was reported that Crown Prince Abdullah of Saudi Arabia sent a message to Bush 10 days before the attacks that American policy towards the Arab/Israeli problem had become unsupportable. According to sources in Riyadh, the prince's letter to Bush prompted American reassurances that led to USA statements about a backing for the establishment of a Palestinian state. These sources said the letter was part of a dialogue started in the June meeting in Paris between Crown Prince Abdullah and Colin Powell. In this (pre-attack) letter, you apparently have the world's largest oil exporter trying to influence USA policy on the Arab/Israeli conflict at the same time Arab public opinion and governments had become increasingly unhappy at the USA standing by Israel.

So, was President Bush's statement last week supporting the idea of a Palestinian state directly tied to American efforts to bring Arab nations into the coalition against terrorism, or had President Bush already changed his mind on this issue in response to the Saudi's letter of complaint?

Were the Saudis saying that America's bias towards Israel was making it impossible for the Saudi rulers to follow policies that were in American/Saudi interests? Some reported that President Bush had written back to reassure the crown prince that his message was heard and understood and would be considered if not outright accepted.

We have spoken before about odd tragedies that have seemed to coincide with USA government stances taken on issues of homosexuality, abortion, and the pressure to have Israel give up covenant land. Was our government about to pressure Israel in this matter a few days before the attacks?

Like I said, I am not prepared to try and guess God's mind in these complicated days and make pronouncements which seem to be judgmental and possibly cruel when others are suffering. But at the same time, I want to keep my eyes open and examine every possibility.

I'd appreciate everyone's thoughts on this.

I remain,

SOROS
