My only brush with the famous: Was in Santa Fe during my wild and crazy years, staying at the St. Francis before it got renovated. A dump, in other words. On the porch one afternoon, near lobby, reading a book. Got a weird precognitive buzz in my reptilian brain. Looked up to see Jessica Lange staring at me. Whoa!! She had just gotten out of a Mercedes station wagon. Was carrying a beautiful blonde daughter who was no more than 2 to 4 years old. Seconds later, Sam Shepard abruptly grabs her by the arm. He was a bit rude to her and gave me a dirty look. I wanted to shout "Hey, don't look at me that way, I didn't start this. I don't stare!" Naturally, I didn't as I was speechless. Found out later that they lived in the area. I'm sure we all have had brushes with the famous. While we are insignificant to them, our memories last forever. Perhaps I'll have "Had A Two-Second Affair With Jessica Lange" written on my tombstone.
