Competitive Analysis

A few questions have been raised lately on Ragingbull concerning competitive solutions to Migratec's such as Mainsoft's Visual MainWin. FYI, Mainsoft which calls itself the e-porting company markets Visual Mainwin.

Does Mainsoft's cross-platform porting solution supplement Migratec's cross-platform migration suite?
Allow me to provide some insights into Migratec's competitive landscape

i) Mainsoft's Visual Mainwin allows developers to write their code in Visual Basic (C++) and deploy their applications simultaneously on Windows, UNIX and Linux. Mainsoft is licensed by Microsoft to use Microsoft's technology (Win32 API). Bristol is also entitled by Microsoft to provide a similar cross-platform solution (Wind/U), i.e. turn 32bit Windows code into 32 bit UNIX or Linux applications.

ii) Migratec's 64Express migrates 32bit code to 64bit (IA-64 architecture) and remains the sole software company that I know of to market such a solution to the software developer community.

iii) Migratec's 32Direct suite of solutions migrate 32bit Solaris code to other UNIX (HP-UNIX and AIX), Windows NT and/or Linux platforms and provide the reverse migration path to Mainsoft's.

iv) MKS (NuTCRACKER) markets a cross-platform development toolkit which allows Enterprise developers to migrate UNIX code to Windows. FYI, despite the clear overlap between MKS and Migratec, Unisys is a partner of both companies.

In summary, Migratec does not compete with Mainsoft nor Bristol but with MKS. Having said that, Migratec complements NUTcracker with 64Express.

Over to You.
