Kb -- VIX fixation

Respectfully, I am afraid that "K_bull" may have to be changed to "K_bear" <gg>

Please look at the VIX starting in late March 2001 to about May 1, 2001:
<img src="http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SharpChartv05.ServletDriver?chart=$VIX,uu[e,a]dbhlyymy[dd][pf][vc60][J850184,Y]">

I put that chart in my "Indicator" list in StockCharts.com Extra right next to this one:

<img src="http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SharpChartv05.ServletDriver?chart=$SPX,uu[e,a]dhhlynmy[dd][pf][J1263523,Y]">

It seems to me the the VIX pattern beginning late March '01 is very comparable to the pattern we have seen the past 5+ days. Investors who misread the VIX in April '01 missed out.

Warm regards anyway....

K-Bull and K-Seria,

<<<No, you're not alone, but I think you might be a tad early. >>>

Perhaps too early, but I'm confident short will be the way to go again quite soon. I've started shorting VRSN and MXIM again, and will continue to do so if they keep on going up.

In answer to the current month puts - I'd say get longer maturity - perhaps January or March. Since I am chronically early, I've found longer life puts are well worth the extra $$$.

This rally has been powerful, but I think the economy still sucks and many stocks are still ridiculously overvalued. The consumer is getting layed off in large volumes, and has record levels of debt. This last pillar of support has already started to fail. I can't see any reason (other than dufora pops) to be long things other than energy & PMs.

The Peter Lynch add is a classic.... Buyer Beware.
