It doesn't seem to me that he is denying that racism exists. What is denied is rather the contention that it is the main factor in the lives of a significant number of people in the US, or that it is an extremely important factor in the economy of the US.

No, actually I'm not. It will always be with us to a degree. We have an obligation to ban institutional racism and place limits on some forms of personal racism.

Have you ever wondered how many blacks may have not been hired by small businesses out of fear of dealing with future problems on the basis or racism vs. what's best for the business?
