How would you objectively make sure you were making progress without using numbers of some kind? Attitude surveys?

I'm glad you feel that there is SOME basis to believe in SOME pervasive social inequality. I think someone would have to have their head in the sand (or some other location) to say that there is no social inequality and that given identical starting points and ability, race simply plays no role.

I know I'm biased. I try to compensate for it, because I know other people are biased and acting upon it. That's just the kind of guy I am. I try to make a difference if I can, even if it just to open people's eyes a little.

But hell, I saw a rooster along the side of the freeway today and tried to rescue it. It ran back into the bushes (of course) and I was left with nothing more than scratches on my car (from backing into a road-side reflector) while attempting my "Raid on Entebbe"-style chicken rescue. Hard to not think "No good deed goes unpunished!"

Doh!!
