Elmer, Re: "15-20 fabs!"

That's a lot of manufacturing capacity for the future, though some of the ones on your list are old and have been retired, or will retire very soon.

Now, the challenge is to Copy Exactly PX60 to the largest of these fabs, and hopefully Intel can do this ASAP.

Re: 15-20 fabs!

And we all know how much those 15 to 20 FABs cost...

And yet, with all those FABs, in a terrible market, they can't supply their 75% of the market (at least according to the latest reports from Mike)

Intel faces Pentium 4 shortage
By Mike Magee, 11/10/2001 08:46:52 BST
CHIPZILLA HAS BUMPED into a big hurdle that is threatening to kybosh its plans for world microprocessor domination with the Pentium 4.

213.219.40.69

Meanwhile, with only 2 FABs, and a far smaller investment, AMD has no trouble supplying 25% (soon 30%?) of the market for Desktops, Notebooks, and single and dual processor Workstations and Servers.

Intel yields must be worse then horrible...
