We have asked some fair questions of CIA and FBI but I wanted to be one of the first to say here that their efforts the past four weeks have been very impressive. I think we all know Al-quaeda almost certainly had planned for follow-up attacks. These have so far failed. Obviously we can expect a major announcement tonight from the President. If the rumors are substantiated I hope the nation does not assume this war is won - far from it. However it would be an enormous early victory and a powerful message to send would-be terrorists: martyrdom they seek; rotting in solitary confinement in an American prison for the rest of their days is certainly not.
