Juniper records third-quarter net loss
But without one-time items, pro forma EPS beats estimate

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (CBS.MW) -- Internet router maker Juniper Networks on Thursday reported a net loss for the third quarter compared to a net income in the like period a year ago, a casualty of the weakness in capital spending in the telecom sector.

The company reported a net loss of $29.7 million, or 9 cents a share, compared with a net income of $58.1 million, or 17 cents a year ago.

But excluding one-time items, Juniper Networks (JNPR: news, chart, profile) recorded a pro forma profit of $32.5 million, or 10 cents a share. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial/First Call had forecast a 7 cent profit....
