If they roll-up operations into Global Planet (or whatever, if they change the name!) they might convince MSFT and softbank to hold shares of the combined entity and give them big chunks of bandwidth to make up the difference vs a buyout.

I think the Board's of GX and AX have several members-in-common. Haven't checked lately.

The only reason I believe that GX will (or already has) gotten MSFT, etc. approval is not because they need it, but because it really makes a company look stupid when they vote in a major change with just 57%. Other than that, it's both perfectly legal and unstoppable.

They will assure MSFT that the reason they originally invested in AX (to own bandwidth?) is ENHANCED by the merger. Probably isn't (wasn't) hard to do that. Remember, MSFT, unlike the GX RB and SI message boards, doesn't have a bunch of poorly-trained monkeys running around squealing "GX going bankrupt!!"...
