I believe Pakistan's decision to 'stand in time of need with the victims' was courageous, despite what some may feel is simple buckling to international opinion and particular pressure from the US.

I also think the early actions of the US were just right, signaling that 'this time it is different'.

If Musharraf was influenced both by the atrocity of the attack and the quickly apparent grim determination of the US administration - so what, he/Pakistan made the right decision, and he will have gained a powerful ally in the fight against extremism within his own land. I hope he calls on the ally and finds them ever ready.

And I also hope that 'this time it is different' doesn't get diluted with the passage of time and achievement of interim goals.

Muslims as a nation rarely miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

Well put!

Though we had to go through our own times of intolerance, it is the separation of religion and state that has freed us from the excesses that occur when religion passes for politics.

It may be the greatest freedom of all, because religious morality is rigid but EFFECTIVE politics requires compromise.

" Look at
sad characters of Yaser Arafat, Saddam Hussein Ghaddafi or Assad, it is that
conceited bragging that has destroyed these nations..."

When someone does step forward with courage, in the manner of Anwar Sadat, they are eliminated. When will this phenomenon finally cease?
