Well, U.S. support for Israel is much more complex than anyone wants to admit to. Most people do not know for instance that U.S. military aid to Israel in 1967 was less than $20M. And until TWA started getting its planes Hijacked and blown up in the desert (though I'm not saying, this is the reason for the change in U.S. policy), the United States tried to show "no favorites" in the Middle East. And it certainly seems as though the Arab nations, have no clue as to the U.S.-Israeli relationship.
