Generally, yes, if union. If non-union, then that's a different story. Majority of workers in this country are non-union. Also, you'd have to factor in teachers, etc. working longer hours at night, on their own time.

My figures covered 1990 till the last day of 2000. So let's not lose sight of the "real story":

Inflation rose 32% during the decade.
Worker pay rose 37% during the decade.
CEO pay rose 571% during the decade.
