Fellow Dude, I don't even pretend to have the answer to the problem.

Hell, I've come to the conclusion that I don't even know the question. What I do know is that when folks announce that they mean "US" harm, we better obliterate them. The jury has ruled, so to speak, by their public pronouncements, and this does not mean a public trial. You really are not seeing any public anti-war type movement on this side of the pond.

Clearly, my greatest concern is that a tyrant could step into this void. It would not take a lot of effort to see how many dollars that the consumer was paying for airport "security" before WTC and how much actually was spent for that effort. The "US" will get to the recrimination phase of this problem; my best guess will be about the end of January. The heads and dollars will roll. Let's acknowledge that the "US' lives in a corporate society, where the lowest cost provider means ultimate survival.

It took almost 20 years for the military to get from the joke of Vietnam to the obliteration of the fourth largest military on the planet in a matter of hours. The lessons learned were that you needed the people in place that could comprehend the new technology, you needed to spend great efforts and financial resources on training them, and you needed to provide them with the latest technology available -- the bottom line to any real problem -- the right people with the right training with the right equipment. Sadly (TM), I don't yet see any, any move in this direction!!! Again, sadly, the rules of engagement have probably really not changed since the time of Alexander the Great. Alas, unfortunately, this has nothing to do with corporate profitability.

I will agree that the billboards in this part of the swamp point to "God Bless America" and not the world. The best one I saw was that "You can bend the steel of our buildings, but not the will of our people." Alas, I can only say that it was our buildings that came down and not, as of yet, yours.

Now, then, I choose to end this discussion, as it really has nothing to do to with the economic world.

Just A View from the Swamp
