West Bank Poll Shows Questions Among Palestinians About US Position

Thursday, October 11 2001 @ 01:35 PM GMT

The Bir Zeit University in the West Bank surveyed 1,200 Palestinian in the West Bank and Gaza regarding the US war against Afghanistan. Here are the survey’s main results ..

RAMALLAH, Palestine: Eighty-nine percent of the Palestinians surveyed by a West Bank university say they don't believe the United States is justified in attacking targets in Afghanistan as part of its anti-terrorism campaign.

The Bir Zeit University survey of 1,200 West Bank and Gaza Palestinians also found that 76 percent do not want to see any Arab participation in the U.S.-led effort to stop Osama bin Laden and his allies.

Regarding the September 11th terror attacks against the United States, 64 percent of those surveyed say those attacks went against Islamic law.

The university's poll was conducted October 4-6, just before U.S.-led airstrikes began.

I still feel its basically being downplayed

well sure, why talk it up and frighten everyone? Let law enforement do their normal investigation. After all, the general populace can't do a thing about it.
