Hi Mark,

Good call yesterday on DROOY; I think that the w/e apprehension gold play is still alive and well and one day that gold slot machine may come up with 3 bars and really pay off on Monday. When I give up on gold entirely, I'll bake a cake with a hacksaw inside and smuggle it into your cell. <VBG>

I missed VISG today as well (also CPHD), too busy starting to sell major gainers from the past week when first 30 min highs couldn't be taken out in next 30 min period. Reflex sell decision as profits of > 30% should never be given back. Now mostly in cash, and given the anthrax news just out a very fortunate reflex. Will look for possible reentry on panic sells, but with the w/e pending may just stay safe in cash.

Like you, I suffer with affection for a football team (Seahawks) which disappoints on a regular basis. At least I've got the Mariners to cheer me up. I'm glad to read that you aren't hoping for the apocalypse. I do look forward to your return to trading as this thread is a more enjoyable read when we discuss strategies and particular possible plays.

OT: Side note on the psychology of a trader - I've come to recognize about myself that while I will short stocks, I prefer not to do so as my main form of trading. The past few months I've done a lot more shorting but it seems to make me more pessimistic in general - to succeed in the trade, I have to hope for failure and this dichotomy is uncomfortable when a majority of my trades depend on failure. Perhaps bear markets just operate this way, in which case hold out for any group of stocks that are in prolonged bear markets (gold included) affects one's attitudes. Just a thought.

For future scares, the following is from Briefing.com:
Traders waste no time capitalizing on anthrax scare, pouring into biological-agent detection plays such as CHPD, AVAN, AATK, NGEN, BDAL, ACLA. Cepheid (CPHD 8.45 +2.98) shares have surged approx. 55% over the past 20 minutes.

Peace and Justice --- Patrick

Mark,

Hope you win your battles.. Have waited in vain for you to play the big names more.. Seems you crave challenge.. even as the big names got quite cheap, you still ignored them.. Just seems so much talent being wasted.. I did pick up VISG early Friday.
