Hostage crisis, you mean? Or Soviet invasion of Afghanistan? Or both? Yes, except what was stored in brain cells I destroyed. I was in college then, writing papers about chemical weapons and the economics of war. And playing quarters. Hey, it wasn't all about hanging out with arrogant professors. ;-)

BTW, after the hostages were taken, the market fell 10% or so, then gained about 40% over the next year in spite of Iran-Iraq war and Volker's relentless squeezing, interrupted briefly by the Hunt Brothers. Of course, PV eventually squeezed hard enough it stopped breathing and fell into a coma for a year or two.

Hey, I guess I have a few working cells left. That or I know where to look things up. ;-)

Why do you ask?

PS: I came close to becoming a Marine that year. Talked myself out of it just before the weekend long flight physical.

PPS: I wrote the chem weapons paper for Prof. Joseph Kruzel, SALT I team, died in Bosnia or Croatia. Best class I had.
