Patriotism is the subjugation of the individual to the White, Anglo-Saxon power structure. Hence making one recite the pledge of allegiance is insensitive to cultural diversity, being oppressive and all. Or something like that. <ggg> This is the kind of nonsense that has been big in academia for a while now. Postmodern irrationality, group-think, and racial collective moralism. Goes hand in hand with the bizarre self-esteem theories. Can't do anything that would make the kids feel uncomfortable, you know. I believe it was in the Wash. Times I read a Carolina professor is being sanctioned for HARRASSMENT. What did he do? In a closed door, private conversation about the events since Sept 11th with a female graduate student, he voiced an opinion that did not agree with hers, which made her feel uncomfortable. So he was harrassing her by holding a contrary opinion. This is the kind of madness taking place in our schools. Derek
