Back in the 1980's, we were so obsessed with defeating the Evil Empire (the Soviet Union), we made some very serious mistakes in Afghanistan that have come back to haunt us, no doubt about that.... I also thought it was a bad idea launching air strikes from Saudi Arabia back in the Gulf War, and remember the chills going down my spine watching our jets take off back then. Being human, our leaders have made serious mistakes in the past and will continue to make mistakes in the future of course, but let us hope and pray they will think things through (like in a game of chess) before making major decisions that could affect us all in the future from now on....
