did the government actually fully reflect the effects of the attacks? someone got the new calculation? was it just...well, the numbers would look better if they weren't in the negative?

<<<In the government report, retail sales were just 0.2 percent higher than in September 2000 before adjusting for inflation.

The Commerce Department said it had altered its usual method of seasonally adjusting the data so they would fully reflect the effects of the attacks and to make sure September 2001 would not be a factor in further seasonal adjustments.
