jj, I hate to sound like a crankshaft, but these patriotic hucksters have gone beyond wearing thin my patience and are really getting on my nerves. Of course, I am a cynical, no-nonsense type of guy. For example, I think giving blood and donating to charities and volunteering makes sense. Waving flags and lighting candles is silly season. I think Dubya made some good speeches that were needed by many after the disaster. But delaying playoff games for that bumbling mess of a speech (which got rave reviews from the media, say what????) this week for no reason whatsoever chapped my stick.

But my number one gag me with a spoon was Chris Matthews "Hardball" show in which he talked about people who are now afraid to do anything because of terrorism. There is a cure for that: it's called "get a little iron in your soul and in your backbone." None of us get out of life without death, so we can't be a bunch of wimpy xantophobes (may be an incorrect usage, as my big dictionary doesn't contain the word, which means fear of death).

Oh, well, back to my curmudgeonly ways. <g>
