At least he could come and apologize for the very crude language, apologize for being wrong would be to ask too much (g). I hope not too many listened to his ravings. The least he should have done, was to let us know he covered his shorts, which hopefully he did. It is asking a lot to expect someone who showed no class while he was riding high to suddenly develop some when things go awry. However, out of humility human beings are born, so hope does spring eternal. I understand your vexation at his smugness, but being the class guy that you are, you need to let it go. There are too many smart-alecs in the world for us to waste time harboring any ill will....

Self-appointed egomaniacal gurus never face up to their errors, even when they are on the public record. When I first went to Washington one self-styled big shot told me the rule was "never apologize, never explain" if what you did was criticized. That is horseshit. Class acts know they aren't right all the time and face up to the boo-boo's. Sometimes the calls on this thread get a bit too "confident" but the overall spirit is shooting for a decent average, not a home run every time. I spent some time on a chat site with someone like Westy (I was invited to develop a new room on the site in fact). He was so intolerant of anything not under his control that he booted me and my buddies within a month. So I went back to my own little site (those interested should check my profile - the chat site is free and open every day, or PM me with questions) like you came to this thread when Steve's antics got out of hand. We would be delighted to have anyone here on the site too. SI has an effective self-segregration mechanism where like-minded people can hang out mostly free from interference. The rest storm off in a huff or just go on the Ignore list. I think it's pretty funny watching grownups act like 5-year olds on a playground ("I'M GONNA TAKE MY TOYS AND GO HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!"). If Westy returns he will make my Ignore list in a flash.
