If this wasn't a good community I wouldn't be here at all. Most folks are great. It's about how I utilize this format: for investing. And of course if it's about investing, you put up and exchange investment ideas and hope to receive those in return. Now, when those ideas don't work, I've always assumed most here are big boys and girls like me and take their licks. But, who knows? This is a very open forum, and I'm not so sure I want any responsibility whatsoever for any investing ideas, good, bad or indifferent, unless those on the other end are very like minded, independent and have some degree of sophistication. And, I definitely want to avoid the "Tokyo Joe" guru label. That's not even close to where I want to go with this.

The ideal forum model for me would be conducted by a Jim Steele or Claude Cormier (maybe both?)to a smaller group of liked minded PM investors. It's the classic twenty or thirty smart, focused people that can get much more done together than any of us could do alone. Each participant would have his or her special attribute to offer, and not everybody would necessarily have to be a primary contributor. But we would all work at it, as friends and collaborators. It would be a constant mutual learning curve.

This could be a powerful investment tool. But it would have to be secretive, because frankly, bird dogging info and good investment data takes work, some confidentiality, and application. You don't just do that kind of work, and let the whole world see it. If it's more "underground", as G_T characterizes it, so be it. This isn't City Hall. The GEO questions that I popped at Jim is an example. Those are legitimate questions to ask. But to be honest, there is no way John Paterson is going to answer them, and allow Jim to post it here, with the likes of G_T and who knows who else lurking around. He might answer on the otherhand, if it was to a sophisticated investor pool who owned his stock, and was conducted through a person he trusted. Secondly, such as organized and active investor group would have some influence on management, especially in microcap names.

I am not the person to conduct this, nor I'm I interested in that role. I'm really just a Teaching Assistant type and a star student, nothing more. Further, I've asked Jim to perform this GEO service without compensation. People need to be compensated for this kind of work, or they can't survive for long. I am interested in seeing people like Jim and Claude survive long enough to make it to the BEGINNING of a bull market. I know they will do fine AT THE END of one.

I have no idea if anybody here is interested in this model, but that's the direction I'd like to go if it can be pulled off. Comments welcome?
