Fred Hickey on Micron:

Micron's current revenue run rate of sales is under $ 2 Billion. Yet at 18 price, it has a market cap of $ 11 Billion nearly 51/2 times sales. Historically Micron has traded at 2 times sales. A more reasonable price would be 10-12. Micron only has $ 2.80 in cash on B/L sheet and it is burning that cash a a quick rate. Micron needs one or major competitors to leave the business. Most of the major competition is foreign which are backed by government. DRAM is a tough place to make a profit.

-----------

Do you think Hyundai, Samsung or NEC/Hitachi will ever give up on DRAM ? They definitely have a cheap labor advantage based on comparative cost analysis which is never going to change.

With PC sales declining this year and never ever returning to the robust growth of previous years, a major driver of DRAM sales, is it still possible for Micron to return its glory days ?
DRAM are now consumed big time by networking vendors, but nothing compared to a PCs.
Typical memory used on a router now days is 256 Meg. One year ago it was 128 Meg or 64 Meg.
