Re: loss of control

Perhaps I have gained some perspective from two things: having the control of my own life spun out from beneath me for awhile (I don't recommend it) and living for a few years in one of the demographically oldest towns in the US.

I developed enormous respect for the way the elderly cope with disintegration and dying. I likened it to being tied to RR tracks, and hearing the whistle of a train in the distance. No one can calculate the distance of the train or the time of its arrival. They know it is no longer measured in decades though, and despite bright minds and creative spirits, they recognize that it is impossible to untie themselves from the tracks.

That leaves them but one clear choice - not how to survive, but how to live while alive.

In that sense, I feel no palpable fear of terrorists. I suppose, if an attack or a direct torture occurs, I will know fear then. Until I am tied to that, or any, railroad track, I will support the elimination of loco-motives and pay attention when near tracks, but otherwise, my principal energies will remain the exploration of ways to live better.

And I think those dancing teens in Colorado are onto something.... <GG>
