Looks like Juniper will be going more head to head with Cisco as they try to grow the company.

JNPR will also be facing competition from other gigabit companies like EXTR, FDYR and such others.
Penetration in edge for JNPR would be even more difficult. They have an architecture optimized for routing performance and price per port tends to be quite high compared to price per port for a L3 gigabit switch.
But anyway, JNPR management is smart and cannot be taken lightly with lot of cash on balance sheet.
It is very likely that they could make an attempt to buy a gigabit company.
