Fills are so-so with stops and market orders but limit orders usually work pretty well. And they are introducing ETrade Pro soon that allows some direct ECN preferencing. Customer service has improved a lot since the early days - their growth plus a slowdown in new accounts seemed to give them time to catch up. I would not use ETrade if I daytraded 20-30 tickets per day. Put for position trades and swing trades (I have a very diversified portfolio that does 5-10 buys and sells per day on average) they are fine. And I like the Market Trader quote service. My backup account is at Datek - their interface drives me nuts, couldn't use it a lot myself. Also had a Dreyfus account a few years back but haven't been to their site in ages.
